ABOUT BEHAVIORAL SLEEP MEDICINE
Behavioral Sleep Medicine (BSM) focuses on the evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders by addressing behavioral, psychological, environmental and social variables. The success of behavioral and cognitive techniques to treat sleep disorders is well-documented by decades of research.
Behavioral changes address your sleep schedule, sleep environment and other activities related to sleep. Cognitive techniques examine and modify thoughts and beliefs that interfere with sleep. Behavioral sleep medicine offers effective treatments for insomnia, sleep-related anxiety, obstructive sleep apnea, circadian rhythm disorders, nightmares and narcolepsy.
